The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is actively working on enhancing the capabilities of the Smart Makkah Operations Center (Smart Moc) using artificial intelligence to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims visiting the holy city of Makkah. The center focuses on various fields such as programming, data, and artificial intelligence to monitor different platforms and provide accurate analyses. This initiative is part of SDAIA’s commitment to employing the latest technologies to serve the guests of God, including Hajj pilgrims, Umrah pilgrims, and visitors to the Grand Mosque.

One of the key initiatives of the Smart Moc center is the BASEER platform, developed in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, Public Security, to utilize national algorithms in artificial intelligence to support government agencies in managing crowds during Hajj. Furthermore, the Sawaher platform offers advanced analyses for support services, regulating vehicle movement, and crowd management in the holy sites. It also includes a data panel providing information on various indicators such as average waiting times for vehicles at port lanes and the behavior of pilgrims at Jamarat and its surrounding paths, assisting authorities in implementing dispersal plans and counting pilgrim numbers.

SDAIA’s focus on building a smart digital system in Makkah and the Holy Sites aims to support government agencies, particularly the Ministry of Interior, in efficiently managing Hajj operations from operational centers at their headquarters. The system operates in accordance with high standards of performance, continuity, and cybersecurity. These efforts highlight SDAIA’s role as the national enabler for data and artificial intelligence in Saudi Arabia, ensuring the seamless operation of services and security measures during the pilgrimage season.

The utilization of artificial intelligence in the Smart Moc center enables real-time monitoring of various platforms, providing insights that help enhance the overall experience for pilgrims. By analyzing data and identifying patterns, the center can make informed decisions to optimize crowd management, vehicle movement, and support services in the holy sites. This proactive approach helps in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of pilgrims, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing a seamless Hajj experience.

The Smart Moc center’s advanced analytics capabilities play a crucial role in guiding operational decisions and resource allocation during the pilgrimage season. By leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, the center can detect trends, forecast potential challenges, and implement effective strategies to address them promptly. This proactive and data-driven approach enhances the overall efficiency of managing crowds and ensuring a smooth flow of activities in the holy precincts, contributing to a successful and memorable pilgrimage for all visitors.

In conclusion, the Smart Makkah Operations Center’s focus on data, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics is instrumental in enhancing the safety, comfort, and efficiency of Hajj operations in Makkah and the Holy Sites. By investing in state-of-the-art technologies and collaborating with government agencies, SDAIA plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless management of crowds, vehicle movement, and support services during the pilgrimage season. These efforts underscore Saudi Arabia’s commitment to leveraging technology to serve the guests of God and provide a memorable spiritual journey for all pilgrims visiting the holy city of Makkah.
