Blake Lively, popular for her roles in Gossip Girl and The Age of Adaline, is excited about the release of the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel It Ends With Us on August 9. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lively, who plays Lily Bloom in the film, shared her enthusiasm for bringing the beloved book to life and connecting with its passionate fan base. She believes that fans of the novel will deeply resonate with the upcoming film.

Lively expressed her dedication to honoring both the book and the movie adaptation, stating that they worked hard to do justice to the story and the characters. Directed by Justin Baldoni, who also stars in the film, It Ends With Us follows Lily Bloom’s journey from a traumatic childhood to pursuing her dreams. Along the way, she encounters neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid and reconnects with her first love, Atlas Corrigan, leading to emotional complexities reminiscent of her parents’ relationship.

The actress emphasized the importance of connecting with fans who have cherished Hoover’s story for years, mentioning the great responsibility that comes with portraying a character that resonated deeply with so many people. Reflecting on her role as Lily Bloom, Lively expressed pride and gratitude for being a part of the film and the journey. Screenwriter Christy Hall also shared the sentiment, stating that they worked tirelessly to preserve the essence of It Ends With Us and do justice to the beautiful book.

Lively reassured fans that even if they haven’t read the book, the movie stands on its own and works as a standalone story, while also being satisfying for those who are familiar with the novel. She believes that the film successfully captures the essence of the narrative and brings authenticity and humanity to the portrayal of the characters. The actress expressed her pride in portraying Lily and her excitement to share this special journey with Colleen Hoover and the fans.

The team behind It Ends With Us, including Blake Lively and Christy Hall, have put in a lot of effort to ensure that the film adaptation respects and honours the source material. With Justin Baldoni at the helm as the director and actor in the film, the adaptation is set to captivate audiences and deliver an emotional and powerful story. Fans of the novel can look forward to seeing their favorite characters brought to life on the big screen in a way that stays true to the heart of the story.
