Sharjah’s Kalba is set to have a new crescent-shaped project on top of a hill, offering panoramic views of the mountains, valleys, and the coast. Named Ghamam (‘above the clouds’), the project sits about 850 meters above sea level on Jebel Deem and consists of two floors. The first floor will house a restaurant, an open café, and a reading room, while the ground floor will have viewing platforms, a multipurpose hall, and a prayer room. The project aims to provide visitors with a unique and tranquil experience surrounded by nature.
More than 4,500 trees have been planted on the rocky mountain to enhance the natural beauty of the area. The greenery includes olive, apple, pomegranate, and grape trees, adding to the overall aesthetic of the project. Additionally, the project will feature an open theatre and designated play areas for children, making it a family-friendly destination. The development aims to create a serene and peaceful environment where visitors can relax and enjoy the stunning surroundings.
Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, recently visited the under-construction project, showing his support and interest in its progress. The project is part of a larger initiative to enhance the tourism infrastructure in Kalba and elevate it as a must-visit spot in the emirate. In addition to Ghamam, a football stadium and a 100-room hotel are also planned to be built near the project on the mountain. The stadium, located 650 meters above sea level, will offer a cooler climate for sports activities compared to the city.
This is not the first project of its kind in Sharjah, as a similar rest area called Al Suhub was inaugurated in 2021 in Khor Fakkan. The growing tourism infrastructure in Kalba includes the recent opening of three mega projects: Hanging Gardens, Al Hefaiyah Lake, and a clock tower. These developments aim to position Kalba as a vibrant and attractive destination for both residents and tourists, offering a blend of natural beauty and modern amenities.
With its stunning location and unique design, Ghamam is set to become a major attraction in Sharjah, drawing visitors seeking a tranquil retreat in nature. By incorporating greenery, entertainment facilities, and breathtaking views, the project aims to provide a memorable experience for all visitors. As Sharjah continues to invest in its tourism sector, projects like Ghamam will further enhance the emirate’s appeal and position it as a diverse and dynamic destination for travelers of all interests.
