Amir Meets with the President of Ukraine

The Amir of Qatar, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, recently met with the President of Ukraine, HE Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and his delegation to discuss the latest developments in Ukraine. The meeting focused on international efforts to stop the fighting and protect civilians, with an emphasis on resolving the crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means. Additionally, the leaders discussed bilateral relations between Qatar and Ukraine and explored opportunities to strengthen them.

During the meeting, President Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to the State of Qatar for its efforts to reunite Ukrainian children with their families in Ukraine. This initiative is part of Qatar’s ongoing mediation efforts to help families affected by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater.

The Ukrainian delegation, led by Ambassador HE Andrii Kuzmenko, included senior officials who participated in discussions about cooperation between Qatar and Ukraine. The leaders also addressed a range of issues of common interest during their bilateral meeting. To further strengthen the ties between the two countries, HH the Amir hosted a dinner banquet in honor of President Zelenskyy and his delegation.

The meeting between the Amir of Qatar and the President of Ukraine underscored the importance of international collaboration in addressing conflicts and protecting vulnerable populations. Qatar’s mediation efforts to reunite Ukrainian families separated by the crisis demonstrate the country’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region. By keeping channels of communication open and engaging in constructive dialogue, Qatar and Ukraine can work towards resolving the crisis through peaceful means.
