The 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Bahrain was celebrated in a grand ceremony at the Diplomatic Raddison Blu Hotel in Manama. The event was attended by high-ranking officials from both countries, including HE Ahmed bin Salman Al Musalam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives in Bahrain, and Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, Minister of Social Development. HE A. K. M. Mohiuddin Kayes, Charge d’Affaires of the Bangladesh Embassy, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

During his speech, HE A. K. M. Mohiuddin Kayes highlighted important milestones in the relationship between Bangladesh and Bahrain, such as the visit of Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Bahrain in 1999. He also mentioned a recent meeting between the Foreign Ministers of both countries in Kampala, showcasing their commitment to strengthening relations. The first round of Foreign Office Consultation held in Manama in November 2022 was also discussed, where future collaborations between the two nations were explored.

A significant announcement made during the ceremony was the commencement of construction for the Bangladesh School building in A’ali, which will be named after Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This project was made possible by the donation of land from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the funding from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Charge d’Affaires expressed gratitude for their support and highlighted the importance of education in strengthening ties between the two nations.

The event also saw the unveiling of the official logo for the 50th anniversary celebrations, symbolizing the long-standing relationship between Bangladesh and Bahrain. The festivities included a traditional cake-cutting ceremony with the participation of officials from both countries, further highlighting the camaraderie and friendship shared between Bangladesh and Bahrain. Several agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are reportedly in the pipeline to be signed during the upcoming second round of consultations in Dhaka, showcasing the commitment to further deepen bilateral cooperation.

Overall, the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Bahrain was a testament to the strong and enduring ties between the two nations. The event highlighted key milestones in the relationship, such as high-level visits and meetings, as well as future collaborations in education and other areas. The commitment to strengthen relations was evident throughout the ceremony, with both countries expressing gratitude for the support and friendship shared over the past five decades. As Bangladesh and Bahrain look towards the future, the celebration served as a reminder of the importance of mutual respect and cooperation in fostering international partnerships.
