The third edition of the Science Cafe series, held at Msheireb Museums in Doha, Qatar, focused on the theme of “Life’s Beginnings: Insights into Pregnancy, Fertility, and Newborn Screening”. This event was a collaboration between Msheireb Museums and Sidra Medicine, aiming to shed light on critical topics in precision medicine. General Manager of Msheireb Museums, Abdulla Al Naama, noted the growing interest in the Science Cafe series and the increased engagement of attendees with the presented topics.

Chief Research Officer at Sidra Medicine, Dr. Khalid Fakhro, highlighted the importance of public engagement in raising awareness about advancements in research and clinical care in Qatar. The event featured expert speakers such as Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Dr. Khawla Ismail, who discussed the significance of pre-pregnancy care for a healthy pregnancy. Executive Chair of Women’s Services and Division Chief of Reproductive Medicine, Prof. Johnny Awwad, focused on fertility issues and assisted reproductive technologies like IVF.

Attendees like Noor Eldoss, a healthcare professional from Hamad Medical Corporation’s genetic department, shared their key takeaways from the event, including insights on improving women’s experiences during pregnancy and the potential development of genomic testing technology.
