Dr. Al Ansari noted the devastating impact of the Israeli aggression in Gaza which has resulted in numerous casualties, wounded individuals, and displaced Palestinians. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is facing difficulties in providing aid due to political reasons, which Dr. Al Ansari stressed should not be the case as humanitarian aid should be independent of politics.

Dr. Al Ansari highlighted the ongoing negotiations between the conflicting parties in Cairo and Doha, with the aim of eventually moving towards direct meetings at the highest levels. Qatar’s role as a mediator has been crucial in these efforts, and the country remains committed to pursuing a resolution to end the crisis and alleviate the suffering of civilians.
The MoFA’s efforts include hosting the 160th Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and engaging in joint ministerial meetings with the sisterly Republic of Yemen and the sisterly Republic of Turkiye. HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani’s contacts with key international figures reflect Qatar’s dedication to finding a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
In addition to mediation efforts, the State of Qatar has pledged significant support for humanitarian efforts in Syria and has participated in international forums such as the China-Arab Cooperation Forum. Dr. Al Ansari’s briefing touched upon various diplomatic engagements and initiatives undertaken by the MoFA, underscoring Qatar’s commitment to finding a peaceful solution to the conflict in Gaza.
