WHO Director-General commends Qatar for its humanitarian efforts and support for victims and displaced individuals in Gaza Strip

During the meeting, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus commended Qatar’s efforts in supporting the health sector, specifically for Palestinian victims and displaced individuals in Gaza. Qatar has been actively involved in providing humanitarian aid in the health sector, and this support has not gone unnoticed by the WHO Director-General.

The meeting between Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus highlighted the ongoing cooperation between Qatar and the WHO in various health-related fields. They also discussed the outcomes of the recent 77th session of the World Health Assembly, as well as the key topics being addressed in the 155th session of the WHO Executive Council.

One of the key topics of discussion was the “Sports for Health” partnership between Qatar, the WHO, and FIFA. The World Health Assembly recently passed a resolution, led by Qatar, titled “Strengthening Health and Well-Being through Sport Events”. This resolution aims to enhance and protect health through leveraging future sports events, creating a long-term partnership between the involved parties.

The resolution adopted by the World Health Assembly serves as a framework for utilizing sports events to promote health and well-being. It highlights the importance of partnerships between governments, international organizations, and sports bodies in addressing global health challenges and enhancing public health outcomes.

Qatar’s support in the health sector, particularly for Palestinian victims and displaced individuals in Gaza, has been recognized by the WHO Director-General. The ongoing cooperation between Qatar and the WHO in various health-related fields emphasizes the importance of international partnerships in addressing global health challenges and improving health outcomes.

Overall, the meeting between Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus highlighted the significant role that Qatar plays in supporting the health sector and promoting humanitarian efforts.
