Daman Health Insurance has announced changes to premiums and co-payments for some services starting July 1. Emirati-sponsored domestic helpers under the age of 60 will see an increase in the premium from Dh600 to Dh750 for basic health insurance. Other categories will also see adjustments, although specific details on premiums are yet to be confirmed. Co-payments for in-patient services and one-day procedures will increase to a standard fee of Dh200 per service and capped at Dh500 per year.

Currently, basic plan users do not have to pay additional fees for these services unless they exceed the insurance coverage. However, with the upcoming changes, a fee will be required for each service. Diagnostic services and laboratory tests will now have a 20 percent co-payment fee with a maximum of Dh50 per visit. Medication coverage will remain at Dh1,500 per year with a 30 percent co-payment fee.

Despite the fee increases, Daman Health Insurance is expanding coverage to include top-tier health facilities in Abu Dhabi. Policyholders will now have access to world-class hospitals such as Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City. These hospitals are known for their excellence in areas such as cardiac surgery, stroke, and pediatric cardiac surgery. Residents subscribed to the plan will continue to receive an annual health insurance cover of Dh250,000 and access to healthcare facilities across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra region.

These changes are in line with local government regulations aimed at ensuring community members have access to the highest quality of care in the emirate. The expansion of coverage to include top-tier facilities is a significant benefit for policyholders, providing access to healthcare services where prominent leaders and royals receive treatment. The changes in premiums and co-payments, while an adjustment for some policyholders, are part of efforts to enhance the overall quality of healthcare services available to residents.
