Tommy Fleetwood, a well-known Dubai-based golfer, has partnered with the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) to support three International Pathway Series events annually in the Middle East and Europe. This partnership aims to provide more opportunities for international juniors to attend college and earn their way into AJGA tournaments. Fleetwood, who is a seven-time DP World Tour winner and currently ranked No. 13 in the Official World Golf Rankings, is excited to host the UAE’s first AJGA events through his Tommy Fleetwood Academy.
The Tommy Fleetwood Academy, in collaboration with DP World and the DP World Golf Performance Centre, has been instrumental in promoting junior golf in the region. The three events supported by Fleetwood will bridge the gap between junior golfers and elite amateurs, offering a pathway for aspiring golfers to compete at the highest level. The AJGA series is globally recognized for its role in advancing elite amateur golfers, and Fleetwood is proud to be a part of this partnership.
Fleetwood’s commitment to grassroots golf is evident through the success of the Tommy Fleetwood Academy, which caters to players of all ages and levels. The academy’s focus on developing junior golfers has led to the launch of a second academy in Dubai, with DP World’s support, at Jumeirah Golf Estates. This initiative aims to introduce more players to the sport and make golf accessible to everyone, aligning with Fleetwood’s passion for growing the game.
Jason Etzen, AJGA Chief Business Officer, expressed excitement about partnering with Fleetwood and his wife Clare, highlighting their shared vision for supporting junior golfers’ growth and future development. The partnership with Fleetwood reflects the AJGA’s mission to provide young golfers with opportunities to excel and build successful careers in the sport. The collaboration with Fleetwood is part of DP World’s broader investment in golf and sports development, showcasing their dedication to nurturing future stars.
Through the International Pathway Series, the AJGA aims to expand its reach to international members from 60 different countries, making college golf scholarship exposure more accessible and reducing financial barriers for aspiring golfers. The series will bring opportunities closer to home for international members, allowing them to showcase their talent on a global platform and compete against top-level competition. This initiative underscores the AJGA’s commitment to fostering talent from diverse backgrounds and promoting diversity in the sport.
