OpenAI, a Microsoft-backed firm, has announced discounts on corporate ChatGPT subscriptions for non-profit organizations. Large non-profits will receive a 50% discount on the enterprise-grade version of ChatGPT, while smaller non-profits using ChatGPT Team will pay $20 per month per user. This move aims to increase sales of the artificial intelligence product to enterprises. Since the release of ChatGPT in November 2022, it has seen widespread use in tasks such as writing and coding, quickly gaining 100 million users.

To further enhance its offerings, OpenAI has been targeting large organizations to purchase its enterprise ChatGPT product, which is expected to play a significant role in the company’s revenue stream. In addition to offering discounts, OpenAI has also partnered with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), a non-profit organization based in New York. OpenAI has granted $250,000 to the IRC to support the development of an education chatbot based on OpenAI technology, aimed at assisting educators in crisis zones.

The education chatbot, called aprendIA, is currently being piloted in countries like Bangladesh and Nigeria, where there is a need for educational resources in crisis situations. The IRC aims to use aprendIA to provide interactive and personalized teaching content that can be adapted to different humanitarian contexts. To expand its reach, IRC plans to make the chatbot available on low-tech devices and within existing chat platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, in multiple languages.

The IRC highlighted the challenges faced by over 224 million school-aged and pre-school-aged children in crisis settings globally, where teachers lack resources to support children with unique challenges. With the help of aprendIA, educators will have the tools to create engaging and tailored educational content for students in these challenging environments. By leveraging technology like chatbots, IRC aims to make education more accessible and effective in crisis zones around the world.

In conclusion, OpenAI’s initiative to offer discounts on ChatGPT subscriptions to non-profit organizations, along with its partnership with the IRC, reflects the company’s commitment to using artificial intelligence for social good. By supporting initiatives like aprendIA, OpenAI is not only expanding its product offerings but also making a positive impact on education in crisis zones. As technology continues to play a crucial role in addressing global challenges, collaborations like these pave the way for innovative solutions that benefit society as a whole.
