Rayhan Thomas, a talented Dubai-born golfer, has decided to turn professional after completing a five-year golf scholarship at Oklahoma State University. His amateur golf career in the UAE and the region was impressive, with wins on the MENA Tour and various local events. Rayhan’s time at OSU was marked by playing on the team in almost every tournament and making it to the Nationals. He also had a victory in the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational in Kansas and underwent successful hand surgery to recover fully. Currently ranked 74 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, Rayhan’s first professional tournament will be the PGA Tour Americas 2024 Qualifying in California.
Despite his professional debut, Rayhan plans to continue using OSU’s facilities and stay in golfer Victor Hovland’s home in Oklahoma. As he looks ahead to the PGA Tour, Rayhan aims to qualify for events on the Korn Ferry Tour and play in mini-Tour events in the US. His ultimate goal is to make it to the PGA Tour, refining his game and understanding of the sport along the way. Rayhan also recalls his time in Dubai, where he started playing golf at a young age and had the guidance of mentor Justin Parsons, now coaching PGA Tour players, including 2023 Open champion Brian Harman.
