The upcoming T20 Cricket World Cup in June is expected to be a thrilling event with heightened security measures in place in New York. Governor Kathy Hochul assured attendees of safety with the collaboration of federal and local law enforcement agencies. Reports of threats, particularly related to the India-Pakistan match, have prompted increased vigilance.

New York City Police Department bulletin has raised concerns about potential acts of violence or disruption during the tournament and its related events in New York City. The recent pro-ISIS propaganda specifically referenced the upcoming India-Pakistan match, further emphasizing the need for heightened security measures. Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder mentioned receiving an ISIS-K-linked threat in April, with more specific threats regarding the India versus Pakistan match.

The India-Pakistan match is a highly anticipated event as the two countries have not played a bilateral series in several years due to tense political relations. These matches are among the most viewed sporting events globally. Governor Hochul directed New York State Police to increase enforcement presence, surveillance, and screening processes for the tournament to ensure the safety of attendees.

The T20 Cricket World Cup is one of the newest and most exciting formats of the game, with matches scheduled from June 1-29 at nine stadiums, including six in the West Indies and three in the United States. The India-Pakistan match on June 9 will be held at the Eisenhower Park stadium in Nassau County, New York. Fans can expect a thrilling battle between the two cricketing powerhouses, with security measures in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
