LuLu Group International, known for its popular LuLu Hypermarket chain and shopping malls worldwide, is focusing on opening more hypermarkets in the suburban areas of Abu Dhabi. As part of their new expansion strategy, the group aims to bring their stores closer to communities, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances to the city for shopping. Yusuffali M.A., chairman and managing director of LuLu Group International, highlighted the importance of opening hypermarkets in the suburbs to support new communities and align with the government’s vision of expanding the city.

Recently, LuLu Group International inaugurated a hypermarket over 85,000sqft in Shawamekh Central Mall, located more than 40km from the city. The opening ceremony was attended by Humaid Al Marzouqi, Director of Wathba Municipality Centre, emphasizing the group’s commitment to suburban areas. The new hypermarket offers a wide range of products, including fresh food items, household goods, bakery items, and various amenities such as a money exchange, ATM, F&B outlets, pharmacy, and jewellery shop, making it a community-oriented retail destination in the neighborhood.

Looking ahead, Yusuffali revealed that the group plans to open six to seven hypermarkets in different parts of the suburbs in Abu Dhabi. The focus will be on suburbs like Baniyas, Al Shahama, western regions, and other areas of Al Ain, following a similar community-oriented concept as the Shawamekh hypermarket. These upcoming hypermarkets are expected to create more job opportunities for the local workforce and contribute to the overall economic growth of the region.

Overall, LuLu Group International’s expansion strategy in suburban areas of Abu Dhabi reflects their commitment to supporting the growth and development of new communities. By bringing their hypermarkets closer to residents, the group aims to enhance accessibility to quality products and services, while also aligning with the government’s vision of city expansion. With a focus on community-oriented retail destinations, the group is set to open more hypermarkets across the UAE in the coming years, providing additional convenience and job opportunities for local residents.
