Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani recently participated in a meeting in Madrid, alongside other high-ranking officials from various Arab and Islamic countries. The meeting, led by Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain HE Dr. Pedro Sanchez, focused on mobilizing international action to stop the war on Gaza. During the discussions, the officials addressed the severe developments in the Gaza Strip, condemning the ongoing military escalation and aggression by the Israeli occupation forces targeting unarmed civilians.

The ministerial committee assigned by the extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit to address the situation in Gaza included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, HE Dr. Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, HE Sameh Shoukry, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, HE Hakan Fidan. The committee members commended the Kingdom of Spain for its stance on the war in Gaza, including its official recognition of the State of Palestine and its efforts to call on the European Union to recognize Palestine as an independent state.

The meeting in Madrid highlighted the pressing need for international action to address the escalating violence in Gaza and to put an end to the suffering of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire. The officials also emphasized the importance of solidarity and cooperation among Arab and Islamic countries in advocating for peace and justice in the region. By coming together and voicing their concerns on the global stage, the participating countries hope to garner support and assistance in resolving the conflict and achieving a lasting peace in Gaza.

In addition to discussing the situation in Gaza, the officials at the meeting in Madrid also touched on the broader issue of recognition of the State of Palestine and the role of the European Union in advocating for Palestinian rights. The Kingdom of Spain’s efforts to officially recognize Palestine as a sovereign state and to encourage other European countries to do the same were applauded by the committee members. By pushing for recognition at the international level, the participating countries aim to provide a voice for the Palestinian people and to advance the cause of Palestinian statehood on the world stage.

The meeting in Madrid served as a platform for constructive dialogue and collaboration among Arab and Islamic countries, as well as with key international partners. By engaging in discussions on the pressing issues facing the region, the officials demonstrated their commitment to finding peaceful solutions to conflicts and promoting stability in Gaza and beyond. Through their joint efforts and shared concerns, the participating countries hope to make progress towards ending the violence and achieving a sustainable resolution to the conflict in Palestine.

Overall, the meeting in Madrid was a significant step towards mobilizing international action to address the ongoing war in Gaza and to promote peace and stability in the region. By highlighting the urgent need for a concerted global response to the escalating violence, the officials emphasized the importance of solidarity and cooperation in advocating for the rights and well-being of the Palestinian people. As the international community continues to grapple with the complexities of the conflict in Gaza, the efforts of Arab and Islamic countries to unite in their support for peace and justice offer hope for a better future for all affected by the crisis.
