After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, direct flights between Bahrain and Iraq are set to resume on June 1, 2024. Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, will operate the first flight, with 11 weekly flights scheduled to various Iraqi cities. The airline will operate daily flights to Najaf at 10:25 AM, and four weekly flights to Baghdad on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 9:40 AM. Ticket prices for these flights start from BD104 for economy class and go up to BD505 for Falcon Gold class, with prices varying depending on the date, duration, and type of ticket. Prices are expected to be higher during the Eid Al-Adha holiday.

Iraqi Airways is also expected to resume direct flights between Bahrain and Iraq on June 5, 2024, although the airline has yet to officially announce its flight schedule. The resumption of these direct flights is anticipated to boost economic relations and strengthen social ties between Bahrain and Iraq. Furthermore, it will provide a convenient travel option for passengers from neighboring countries who can connect to Iraq via Bahrain. The restart of direct flights comes as a welcome development for travelers looking to visit Iraq or Bahrain for business or leisure purposes.

The resumption of direct flights between Bahrain and Iraq is a significant step towards revitalizing the aviation industry in the region and supporting economic recovery post-COVID-19. By connecting these two countries through air travel, Gulf Air and Iraqi Airways are facilitating easier access for travelers and promoting tourism and trade between the nations. The availability of direct flights will contribute to the growth of both Bahrain and Iraq’s economies by increasing passenger traffic and fostering business opportunities.

With the resumption of direct flights, travelers can expect smoother and faster journeys between Bahrain and Iraq, eliminating the need for layovers or connecting flights. This will not only save time for passengers but also reduce the overall cost of travel. Additionally, the increased frequency of flights to Iraqi cities will provide more flexibility for travelers to choose convenient departure times and dates, catering to a wider range of preferences and schedules.

The direct flights between Bahrain and Iraq are expected to have a positive impact on tourism in both countries by attracting more visitors and promoting cultural exchange. This direct air link will make it easier for tourists to explore the historical sites, cultural attractions, and natural beauty of both Bahrain and Iraq. Additionally, the resumption of flights will promote people-to-people connections and strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation in various fields.

In conclusion, the resumption of direct flights between Bahrain and Iraq is a promising development that signals a return to normalcy in the aviation sector post-COVID-19. With Gulf Air and Iraqi Airways once again connecting these two countries, travelers can look forward to convenient, reliable, and affordable air travel options between Bahrain and Iraq. The increased connectivity between the nations will not only bolster economic ties and tourism but also enhance cultural exchanges and strengthen diplomatic relations. Overall, the resumption of direct flights is a positive step towards rebuilding and revitalizing the aviation industry in the region.
