Global Schools Management (GSM), a company that owns and operates over 165 schools around the world, has announced a partnership with Aplomado Investments and Fenton Whelan Real Estate to launch a premium international school on Qetaifan Island North in Doha, Qatar. This new school will offer both the UK and IB pathways and cater to up to 1600 students, with plans to open in September 2025. Qetaifan Island North is located off Lusail City and is designed to be a future iconic destination in Qatar.
The new international school will be situated on a 30,245sqm plot and will feature world-class facilities such as a 700-seat auditorium connected to the school’s Performing Art Hub, a 50-meter Olympic-size swimming pool, watersports accessible from the school to the canal, and food technology and hospitality programs linked with industries on Qetaifan Island North. Additionally, the school will have community facilities that will be accessible on weekends. The school is committed to seeking LEED accreditation to ensure energy conservation, reduced water usage, and a minimized carbon footprint.
Jeremy Bussey, CEO of Aplomado Investments, expressed excitement about the partnership with GSM and their plans to establish a high-quality international school on Qetaifan Island. This partnership reflects GSM’s expansion strategy in the GCC region. Ron Packard, founder of GSM, believes that this new school will become the destination school of Doha, shaping the next generation of Qataris and expatriates through academic excellence and regional knowledge.
Professor Ralph Tabberer, former Director General of the UK education sector and now Vice Chairman of GSM Middle East, will chair the school and ensure the highest standards of British education are incorporated into the curriculum. Professor Tabberer stated that they look forward to establishing a leading British curriculum school in Doha that challenges young people to step out of their comfort zone. With a focus on academic excellence and a commitment to shaping the future generation, the new international school on Qetaifan Island North is set to make a significant impact in the education sector in Qatar.
