The Ministry of Labor’s Qualifying Skills Development Department in Doha, Qatar recently wrapped up a training course aimed at enhancing the entrepreneurial potential of individuals with disabilities. This course, part of the “Empower Ability” Entrepreneurship Edition program, was organized in collaboration with the Qatar Career Development Centre (QCDC) and focused on providing participants with the necessary skills to succeed as entrepreneurs. Through demonstrations, practical applications, and career guidance, the training course sought to empower individuals with disabilities, assist them in transforming their innovative ideas into successful ventures, enhance cooperation and communication among participants, mentors, and industry experts, and showcase the talents and contributions of disabled individuals to promote inclusivity and diversity in entrepreneurship.

This training initiative is part of the broader “Empower Ability” program, which aligns with the Ministry of Labor’s objective of upskilling the national workforce. In particular, the program aims to empower individuals with disabilities by offering professional training, facilitating job placements, promoting independence, and supporting their integration into the workforce of private sector companies and institutions. This effort is in line with the goals outlined in the Third National Development Strategy, which include increasing Qatari representation in both the private and public sectors. By providing vocational training opportunities for individuals with disabilities, the Ministry of Labor and QCDC are working towards enhancing their employability and economic participation in various sectors.

As part of the training course, participants who successfully met the requirements and standards set forth by the program were presented with certificates of recognition by Abdulrahman Telfat, the Director of Qualifying Skills Development at the Ministry of Labor, and Saad Abdulla Al Kharji, the Director of Programs and Professional Services at QCDC. The program concluded with a showcase of student projects, as well as expressions of gratitude towards volunteers and supporters of the initiative. This acknowledgment serves to highlight the achievements of participants, as well as the collaborative efforts of all those involved in the training course.

Overall, the training course on qualifying and developing the entrepreneurial potential of individuals with disabilities represents a significant step towards promoting inclusivity and diversity in entrepreneurship in Qatar. By empowering individuals with disabilities, equipping them with essential skills for entrepreneurship, and facilitating their integration into the workforce, the program contributes to the broader goal of enhancing the skills of the national workforce and increasing Qatari representation in various economic sectors. Through partnerships between the Ministry of Labor, QCDC, and other stakeholders, vocational training opportunities are being extended to individuals with disabilities, thereby offering them the necessary support to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
