The Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has announced that his government is taking steps to reform and prepare to govern all Palestinian territories, including Gaza. He is urging more European countries to recognize the state of Palestine as a crucial step towards achieving lasting peace in the region. Mustafa emphasized the need to quickly assist the people in Gaza and develop a clear plan for governing the region in the future. He believes that further recognition of the state of Palestine is essential for building lasting peace and creating a viable two-state solution.

During a press conference with Spain’s Foreign Minister, Mustafa stressed the importance of building the institutions of a state in order to effectively govern Gaza and ensure stability in the region. He expressed his belief that recognizing Palestine as a state and granting full membership in the United Nations is crucial for maintaining hope for peace in the region. The Spanish Foreign Minister condemned efforts to intimidate Spain after its recognition of Palestine and reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to condemning terrorist attacks and calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The Palestinian Prime Minister also met with the Norwegian Foreign Minister, who formally recognized a Palestinian state by handing over official documents. Meanwhile, the EU foreign policy chief expressed concern over the escalating attacks in the West Bank and the military offensive in Gaza. The Spanish and Irish governments are planning to meet with their European counterparts in Brussels to urge other countries to join them in recognizing Palestine.

Overall, Mustafa’s efforts to reform the Palestinian Authority and prepare for governing Gaza, along with the support of European countries in recognizing Palestine, are significant steps towards achieving lasting peace in the region. By building the necessary institutions of a state and gaining international recognition, there is hope for a two-state solution and a future of peace for the Palestinian people and the region as a whole. It is crucial for other countries to follow the lead of Spain, Ireland, and Norway in recognizing Palestine in order to support this path towards peace and stability.
