The 36th conference of the Arab Parliamentary Union recently took place in the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, where the Sultanate of Oman was represented by the Council of Oman. The conference focused on the current situation in the Arab region, the challenges facing joint Arab action, and ways to enhance cooperation between member states. Of particular concern was the brutal aggression by Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, prompting discussions on supporting Palestine.

Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council, emphasized the importance of Arab unity in restoring the status of the Arab nation among other nations. He stressed the need to rebuild trust and brotherhood among Arab nations and to put an end to conflicts that only serve the enemies of the nation. Al Maawali highlighted the need for a unified Arab position backing calls for peace and resisting Israeli aggression, stating that the occupation force only recognizes the standards of force and confrontation.

Al Maawali commended the global free media for showcasing the legitimacy of the Palestinian cause, the suffering of Palestinians, and the aggressions of the Israeli occupation. He reiterated that resistance against the occupation is a fundamental right to defend an occupied land against the occupier. The conference aimed to raise awareness about the plight of the Palestinian people and garner support for their struggle for justice and independence.

The discussions at the conference reflected the Arab nations’ commitment to solidarity with Palestine and their determination to work towards peace and stability in the region. Participants highlighted the importance of Arab unity in overcoming challenges and promoting cooperation for the benefit of all member states. The conference served as a platform for sharing ideas, exchanging perspectives, and formulating strategies to address the pressing issues facing the Arab region.

In light of the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestine, the conference urged the international community to take concrete actions to hold the occupation forces accountable and to support the Palestinian people in their quest for freedom and self-determination. The participants reaffirmed their support for the Palestinian cause and their determination to stand against injustice and oppression. The conference concluded with a resolution to continue advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people and to work towards a peaceful solution to the conflict.

The participation of the Sultanate of Oman in the Arab Parliamentary Union conference demonstrates its continued commitment to promoting Arab solidarity and cooperation. By engaging in discussions on regional issues and supporting the Palestinian cause, Oman reaffirms its stance on peace, justice, and equality in the Arab world. The conference serves as a platform for Oman to contribute to the ongoing efforts towards achieving stability and prosperity in the region.
