US rapper Nicki Minaj’s concert in Britain was cancelled last minute after she was detained at Amsterdam’s main airport on suspicion of possessing soft drugs. Minaj live-streamed part of the incident on social media, stating that authorities found “pre-rolls” in her luggage that belonged to her security guard. She claimed her bags were searched without consent.
Although police confirmed detaining a 41-year-old American woman suspected of trying to export soft drugs, they did not directly name Minaj. The suspect was later released after paying a fine. The artist apologized to fans for missing the concert but promised to make it up with a second show in Manchester on May 30 and a performance in Birmingham as part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour.
Minaj assured her fans that she would create an added bonus for those with tickets to the cancelled show. Manchester’s Co-op Live arena confirmed that tickets would remain valid for a new concert date to be announced soon. The incident has caused a stir among fans and followers of the rapper, who are eagerly awaiting updates on the rescheduled concert dates.
