Minister of Sports and Youth H E Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, who also serves as the President of the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF), led the Federation’s Executive Committee Meeting in Doha. The meeting confirmed that the Gulf Cup ’26’ will be held in Kuwait as planned, with the tournament set to take place from December 21, 2024, to January 3, 2025. The decision was made following a report from an inspection committee that visited Kuwait earlier in the month.

The meeting, which was attended by AGCFF Executive Office Members and Secretary-General Jassim Al Rumaihi, also discussed the establishment of the Gulf Club Championship scheduled for September 24, 2024, to April 25, 2025. This tournament will be held in a home-and-away format. Additionally, the decision was made to host the U-23 National Teams Championship in Kuwait during October of this year.

During the meeting, the Executive Office reviewed proposals from the Federation’s Competitions Committee, which will shape the calendar of events in the near future. One of these proposals includes the creation of a National Futsal Championship, as well as a Women’s National Team Championship. These initiatives aim to promote and support the growth of football in the region.

The AGCFF is dedicated to the development and promotion of football in the Arabian Gulf region, with a focus on both men’s and women’s teams. By organizing events such as the Gulf Cup, the Gulf Club Championship, and the U-23 National Teams Championship, the Federation provides opportunities for players to showcase their talent and compete at a high level.

The decision to hold the Gulf Cup ’26’ in Kuwait demonstrates the commitment of the AGCFF to ensuring the success of the tournament and providing a platform for teams to compete against each other. The tournament will bring together teams from across the region to compete for the coveted title and showcase their skills on the international stage.

With the establishment of new championships such as the National Futsal Championship and the Women’s National Team Championship, the AGCFF is demonstrating its dedication to promoting gender equality in football and providing opportunities for women to excel in the sport. These initiatives will help to further develop the talent pool in the region and support the growth of football for both men and women.
