Oman joins the GCC Information Ministers Meeting in Doha

The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 27th GCC Information Ministers meeting in Doha, Qatar, representing by the Ministry of Information. The delegation was led by Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information, who discussed various topics related to joint GCC media action across different platforms. The meeting addressed proposals and initiatives on enhancing media coverage within the GCC countries.

The ministers examined reports from two GCC institutions, the Joint Programme Production Institution (JPPI) and the Gulf Radio and Television Corporation. Additionally, they approved several proposals and initiatives put forward by Oman, including a Media Awareness Plan focusing on promoting morals, socialization, and Gulf values. Oman also suggested developing a “digital initiative for children in GCC states” and conducting a study on radio and television programs aimed at forecasting joint media messages.

The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation and collaboration between GCC countries in the field of media. Discussions focused on strategies for improving media coverage and promoting shared values and identity across the Gulf region. The approved proposals and initiatives reflect efforts to strengthen media awareness and engagement among the population, particularly focusing on children and the youth.

Oman’s active participation in the meeting demonstrates its commitment to promoting a unified and cohesive media environment within the GCC. The Sultanate’s proposals highlight the importance of preserving cultural values and promoting social cohesion through media initiatives. By collaborating on joint media projects, GCC countries can work together to create a more inclusive and impactful media landscape in the region.

The approval of proposals such as the Media Awareness Plan and the digital initiative for children underscores the GCC Information Ministers’ dedication to utilizing media as a tool for social development and cultural preservation.
