OQ, a global integrated energy company, recently partnered with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) – Oman Chapter to host a training program on “Leadership in Internal Audit” in Muscat. The event took place from May 19 to 21 at the Sheraton Oman Hotel and drew in over 100 participants from various companies across different sectors. The keynote address was delivered by Abdulrahman Al Harthy, Chief Executive Assurance at OQ, who inaugurated the event. The program was conducted by the National Academy for Training and Development and facilitated by Sandor Boeri, the president of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors in the UK and Ireland.

This initiative is part of a series of programs and activities organized by OQ’s Assurance Function to celebrate Internal Audit Awareness Month, a global event held every May. The theme chosen by OQ for this year’s campaign is “Navigate Excellence” in light of the evolving stakeholder expectations and emerging risks faced by organizations. The training focused on exploring and transferring knowledge about world-class leadership practices in the field of internal auditing. Attendees of the three-day course were awarded 16 CPE (Continuing Professional Education) hours at the conclusion of the program, enhancing their professional development and skillset in the industry.

The partnership between OQ and the IIA-Oman Chapter reflects a commitment to promoting excellence and best practices in internal auditing within the region. By providing a platform for professionals from various industries to come together and share insights, the training program facilitated networking opportunities and knowledge exchange. The involvement of industry experts such as Sandor Boeri added credibility and value to the event, ensuring that participants received top-notch training and guidance from leaders in the field.

The program’s focus on leadership in internal audit is particularly relevant in today’s rapidly changing business landscape, where organizations face evolving risks and challenges. By equipping professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate these complexities, OQ aims to empower individuals to drive excellence and ensure effective risk management within their organizations. The emphasis on leadership development is crucial in fostering a culture of accountability and integrity, key components of a successful internal audit function.

In alignment with the global Internal Audit Awareness Month, OQ’s initiative to host the training program underscores the company’s dedication to promoting professional development and knowledge sharing in the field of internal auditing. By bringing together industry experts, practitioners, and stakeholders, the event created a platform for collaboration and learning, enabling participants to gain valuable insights and best practices from experienced professionals. The 16 CPE hours awarded to attendees serve as a testament to OQ’s commitment to supporting ongoing learning and growth within the industry.

Overall, the partnership between OQ and the IIA-Oman Chapter and the successful delivery of the training program on leadership in internal audit exemplify OQ’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in the field of internal auditing. By investing in professional development and knowledge transfer, OQ aims to equip individuals with the skills and expertise needed to navigate today’s complex business environment and drive organizational success. Through initiatives like these, OQ is not only contributing to the advancement of the internal audit profession but also fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the industry.
