The 11th edition of the Museum Ambassador Programme for the Academic Year 2023 – 2024 came to a close with a grand closing ceremony last week at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) in Doha, Qatar. The ceremony was attended by Shaika Al Nassr, MIA Director, school principals, and the parents of participating students. A total of 11 schools participated in the programme, including Al Wakra Secondary School for Girls, Lebanese School of Qatar, and Palestinian School. Throughout the academic year, students visited the museum regularly to learn about Islamic art history and draw inspiration from MIA’s collection.

As part of the programme, students were required to apply what they had learned and the inspiration they gained from the museum visits to create theatrical routines. These routines were then performed and judged during the closing ceremony. The jury, consisting of artist Hadiya Saeed, artist Ahmed Afif, and theatre director Faisal Al Athba, praised the impressive talent of the students and their artwork. After an intense competition, Al Wukair Secondary School for Girls‎ ‎was awarded first place, Mesaieed Secondary School for Boys took second place, and Pak Shamaa School received third place.

The event was a success in showcasing the wealth of young talent in Qatar and emphasizing the importance of combining education with the world of art and culture. It provided students with a platform to showcase their creativity and talent while also fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Islamic art history. The programme not only served as a learning opportunity for the students but also as a means to bridge the gap between education and the world of art and culture.

The Museum Ambassador Programme aims to engage students in a meaningful way by providing them with hands-on experience and exposure to the rich cultural heritage of Qatar. By visiting the museum regularly, students were able to immerse themselves in Islamic art history and draw inspiration from the museum’s vast collection. The competition aspect of the programme encouraged students to apply their knowledge and creativity in a practical way, culminating in the creation of theatrical routines that showcased their talent and skills.

The judges were impressed by the level of talent displayed by the students and commended them for their creativity and hard work. The event not only highlighted the artistic abilities of the students but also served as a platform for them to gain valuable experience and confidence in showcasing their talents. The success of the programme underscores the importance of providing students with opportunities to engage with art and culture, and the positive impact it can have on their education and personal development.

In conclusion, the Museum Ambassador Programme for the Academic Year 2023 – 2024 was a resounding success, showcasing the talent and creativity of young students in Qatar. Through regular visits to the Museum of Islamic Art, students were able to learn about Islamic art history and draw inspiration from the museum’s collection. The competition aspect of the programme further challenged students to apply their knowledge and creativity in a practical way, leading to impressive theatrical performances. Overall, the event highlighted the importance of bridging education with art and culture, and the valuable role it plays in the personal and educational development of students in Qatar.
