Asian Football Confederation reveals revamped Asian club competitions

The AFC recently unveiled the new look for its revamped club competitions, set to begin in the 2024/25 season, marking a significant milestone for Asian football. The unveiling took place at a prestigious ceremony following the conclusion of the 34th AFC Congress 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. The new competitions include the AFC Champions League Elite, AFC Women’s Champions League, AFC Champions League Two, and AFC Challenge League. These competitions are designed to usher in a new era for Asian club football and represent a fusion of cultures, traditions, and footballing prowess from across the Continent.
The logos and brands for each competition were carefully crafted to illustrate the uniqueness of the individual competitions while embodying the collective spirit of the new era of club football. The diverse colors and graphic elements of each brand invite innovation and aim to enhance the visual experience for fans across Asia. The new brand identities are meant to position the AFC tournaments as best-in-class on the global stage, both now and in the future. The AFC President, Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, emphasized the commitment to strengthening the Asian club competition football landscape through the establishment of these new competitions and the unveiling of their visual identities.
The brand new quartet of Asian club competitions, announced in December 2022 with names confirmed in August 2023, represents the AFC’s biggest-ever investment in history. Clubs from the Participating Member Associations are set to benefit from increases in prize money and travel contributions. The AFC Champions League Elite will feature the Continent’s top 24 qualifying clubs, while the AFC Women’s Champions League will comprise 12 teams. In addition, the AFC Champions League Two will consist of 32 teams, with 20 sides competing in the AFC Challenge League.
The unveiling of the new competition brands signifies a new chapter in Asian club football, aiming to inspire excellence and unity among players, fans, and stakeholders. The visual identities celebrate the richness of Asian football and reflect the prestige of the revamped competitions. With a focus on fostering innovation and elevating the fan experience, the AFC’s new brand identities are poised to set a new standard in global football tournaments.
