In a society that is heavily influenced by the use of digital devices, the exceptional accomplishments of Riti Mithesh Patel from Indian School Muscat (ISM) and Akshaya Alagappan from Indian School Al Maabela (ISAM) bring forth a different narrative. They both emerged as the joint toppers of the CBSE class 10th board exams in Oman, showcasing not only academic brilliance but also the importance of disciplined study routines and prioritizing their studies over the distractions of mobile phones. Despite initially aiming for a respectable 98%, Riti outshined her own expectations by scoring 98.8%, while Akshaya achieved a parallel success beyond her initial goals.

Reflecting on their journey to the top, Riti and Akshaya emphasized the significance of consistent effort and focused study habits that were crucial in their achievement. Riti mentioned that the quality of study time was more critical than the number of hours spent studying, a sentiment that was echoed by Akshaya, who committed two hours of study time daily. Their dedication to daily study routines and avoiding mobile phones until after their exams set them apart, showcasing a unique strategy that focused on academic excellence above all else.

Riti and Akshaya’s decision to abstain from personal mobile phones until after their class 10th board exams showcased their commitment to their studies in a world where digital distractions are prevalent. They viewed mobile phones as hindrances rather than aids to their academic success, with Riti receiving her first personal mobile phone only after completing her exams in April. Their resolve not only led them to success but also inspired their peers to reconsider their own relationships with technology, showcasing the importance of prioritizing academic pursuits over digital distractions.

The pair’s balanced approach to their academic pursuits, which included engaging in activities such as visiting the gym and playing chess, highlighted the importance of holistic development alongside their studies. Grateful for the unwavering support of their families and teachers, Riti and Akshaya look forward to pursuing their passions in higher education. Riti aspires to become a doctor with interests in research or bioengineering, while Akshaya dreams of pursuing robotics and excelling in India’s IIT JEE competition, showing their dedication to their academic and professional goals.

As they celebrate their remarkable achievements, Riti and Akshaya offer valuable advice to their juniors, emphasizing the importance of open communication with parents and a steadfast dedication to academic pursuits. Their stories serve as inspiring examples of the power of discipline, determination, and a mindful approach to technology in achieving academic excellence, showcasing the impact of focused study habits and a deliberate distancing from digital distractions in reaching the pinnacle of success.
