Commando Group wins Jiu-Jitsu championship – News

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour wrapped up its final round of the 2023-2024 season with Commando Group emerging as the champions in the professional division. The event, held at the Mubadala Arena, saw fierce competition from professional black belts worldwide, with M.O.D UAE and Al Wahda Jiu-Jitsu Club securing second and third places, respectively.

As the season came to a close, the organisers announced the best-ranked athletes in various weight and belt divisions based on the points accumulated in all five rounds. Male athletes on the list included black belt holders Welison Fernandes, Jefferson Fagundes, Diego Batista, Luiz Paulo Medeiros, Uanderson Ferreira, Marcos Carrozino, and Felipe Bezerra. Female athletes included black belt holder Diana Teixeira, and brown belt holders Beatriz Campos, Julia Alves, and Isabely Lemos.

Youssef Al Batran, a Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, congratulated the winners and highlighted the growth and success of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour as a significant platform for elite athletes. Tareq Al Bahri, General Manager of the AJP, commended the champions for their outstanding performances throughout the season and announced the start of preparations for the new season, with the first event scheduled in Istanbul in June 2024.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour is recognized as one of the premier jiu-jitsu events worldwide, attracting top professional athletes who intensify their preparations to compete. The event continues to grow each year, showcasing the sport at new heights and providing a coveted platform for athletes to showcase their skills.

The final round of the championship welcomed over 2,500 male and female players, signaling the event’s success across all levels of competition. With rounds held in Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Tokyo, and Rome prior to the Abu Dhabi finale, the tour has become a staple in the jiu-jitsu world, drawing top talent from around the globe.

The best-ranked athletes in each division for the 2023-2024 season demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, further solidifying the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour as a must-attend event for jiu-jitsu enthusiasts and competitors alike. With preparations underway for the upcoming season, anticipation is high for what the future holds in store for this prestigious championship.
