MoPH and partners celebrate the crucial role of nurses and midwives in healthcare

The Ministry of Public Health in Qatar recently celebrated International Day of the Midwife on May 5 and International Nurses Day on May 12 in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation and Primary Health Care Corporation. Dr. Salih Al Marri, Assistant Minister for Health Affairs, emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of nurses and midwives in providing high-quality care to patients in the healthcare sector. Mariam Al Mutawa, Acting Chief Nursing Officer at HMC, expressed her pride in celebrating the achievements of nurses in Qatar and globally, highlighting the fulfilling and dynamic career opportunities within the nursing profession.

Nurses are not just caregivers, but also leaders, innovators, educators, and catalysts for change. They play a crucial role in improving access to healthcare and achieving performance improvements in the healthcare sector. Ebtesam Abdulla, Director of Nursing at PHCC, emphasized the vital role nurses play in providing compassionate, holistic care to the community. Nurses at PHCC are seen as advocates, educators, and health partners who ensure the well-being of every individual they serve, supporting patients throughout their healthcare journey.

The celebration of International Day of the Midwife and International Nurses Day provided an opportunity to honor the exceptional contributions made by nurses in Qatar and globally. Mariam Al Mutawa highlighted the pride she feels in working with exceptional nurses and midwives in Qatar, recognizing the valuable impact they have on patients and their families. Nurses are recognized as essential members of the healthcare workforce, with their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to improving patient outcomes being celebrated during these special days.

Nursing is considered one of the most fulfilling and dynamic career paths, offering opportunities for both men and women to make a difference in the lives of others. Nurses are not only responsible for providing direct patient care, but also for driving innovation, education, and positive change within the healthcare sector. Dr. Salih Al Marri emphasized the incredible dedication of nurses and midwives in Qatar, noting the significant role they play in delivering high-quality care to patients across the healthcare system.

At PHCC, nurses are described as the cornerstone of the healthcare system, providing compassionate care to the community. They are seen as advocates for patient well-being, educators, and health partners who support individuals throughout their healthcare journey. Ebtesam Abdulla highlighted the importance of honoring and celebrating the dedication, professionalism, and impact nurses make in the lives of patients and their families. The celebration of International Day of the Midwife and International Nurses Day served as a platform to recognize and appreciate the invaluable contributions of nurses and midwives in Qatar and globally.
