Are you planning to gift a star to your loved one? Think again before falling for the scam of buying stars online. Hassan Al Hariri, the CEO of the Dubai Astronomy Group, has warned that purchasing stars for extravagant prices online is nothing but a big scam. These scammers trick individuals into buying stars with certificates of ownership, ranging from $200 to $1,000. However, Al Hariri clarified that stars cannot be bought or sold, and the concept of owning a star with a certificate is misleading and fraudulent.

Despite rumors claiming that even Nasa offers a similar service, Al Hariri debunked these claims by stating that Nasa has never provided such a service. Stars are named by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) following strict protocols and guidelines, making the idea of personal ownership nonsensical. Al Hariri further explained that the repercussions of this scam go beyond monetary loss, with individuals reaching out to organisations hoping to see stars named after them, only to find out that these stars do not exist or are too small to observe with telescopes.

As a precaution, Al Hariri urged residents to be cautious and avoid falling for such scams. He emphasized the importance of conducting thorough research and verifying the legitimacy of any claims before engaging in transactions. It is essential to be aware that stars cannot be bought or sold, and any offers suggesting otherwise are fraudulent. It is crucial to raise awareness about these scams to prevent others from falling victim to such deceitful practices.

In conclusion, the idea of buying a star as a gift may seem romantic and thoughtful, but it is crucial to be aware of the scams and fraudulent activities surrounding this concept. Stars cannot be purchased or owned, and any claims suggesting otherwise should be met with skepticism and thorough research. By understanding the protocols and guidelines set by the International Astronomical Union and being cautious of misleading advertisements, individuals can avoid falling victim to the star-buying scam. It is essential to stay informed, verify the legitimacy of any offers, and seek guidance from reputable sources before making any transactions related to purchasing stars.
