The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, in collaboration with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, has taken swift action in response to recent food poisoning incidents linked to the Hamburgini restaurant in Riyadh. The incidents were found to be caused by the bacterium “Clostridium botulinum,” which was discovered in mayonnaise from the BON TUM brand used at the restaurant. The same brand’s products at one of the manufacturing facilities were also found to be contaminated. In response, the ministry has halted the distribution of the implicated mayonnaise and initiated a recall from all markets and food establishments across the Kingdom. Production at the manufacturing facility has been stopped to implement necessary regulatory measures.

As part of the comprehensive response, the ministry has ordered the recall of all remaining product batches from the facility, regardless of production line or expiry date. Customers of the facility, including restaurants and food establishments, have been advised to dispose of any stock of the contaminated product they possess. In addition, the ministry, in coordination with the Food and Drug Authority and other relevant local authorities, is conducting extensive monitoring, investigation, and regulatory campaigns to ensure the safety of food products offered to consumers in cities across the Kingdom. It is crucial for the public to rely on official sources for information and to refrain from spreading or believing in rumors and inaccurate news.
