Neeraj Chopra, the Indian javelin throw star, along with other world-class athletes like Steven Gardiner, Nina Kennedy, and Miltiadis Tentoglou, gathered in Doha for a pre-event press conference before the Diamond League meeting. As Neeraj prepared for his season opener with sights set on defending his Olympic title, he shared his aspirations of breaking the 90m mark and returning to his signature long locks. The javelin star, who gained fame in cricket-mad India after winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics, acknowledged the challenges of competing against the world’s best athletes.

Neeraj Chopra’s popularity has soared in India following his Olympic success, although he acknowledges that the pressure to win gold is immense due to the country’s high expectations. Despite this, Neeraj remains focused on his training and preparation for the upcoming Paris Olympics, aiming to stay consistent and healthy to achieve success. With a personal best of 89.94m, Neeraj is determined to break the elusive 90m barrier and is optimistic about his chances at the Doha meet.

Neeraj’s competition in Doha includes tough challengers like Czech Jakub Vadlejch and Grenada’s Anderson Peters, both formidable opponents in the javelin throw. However, Neeraj is confident in his abilities and is prepared to face the competition head-on. Meanwhile, other athletes like long jump champion Miltiadis Tentoglou and 400m legend Steven Gardiner are also gearing up for the meet, each with their own goals and ambitions for the season.

As the Olympic, world, and European long jump champion, Tentoglou is motivated to continue improving and is excited about the upcoming events in Paris. With European Championships on the horizon, Tentoglou is focusing on quality training to ensure success in a challenging year. Meanwhile, Steven Gardiner, the Bahamian sprinter and former world champion, is confident in his form and aims to stay healthy throughout the season, with his sights set on the Olympics.

Australian pole vaulter Nina Kennedy, a world medalist and Diamond League final winner, is looking forward to the challenges of the upcoming Olympics, with a positive mindset and a focus on enjoying the pressure. With a successful few years in her career, Kennedy is determined to approach the upcoming competitions with confidence and excitement. The athletes gathered in Doha are poised to showcase their talents and compete at the highest level, setting the stage for an exciting and competitive season ahead.
