The 33rd Doha International Book Fair was inaugurated by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani in Doha, Qatar. The event, themed Knowledge Builds Civilizations, will run until May 19 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. Among the dignitaries present at the inauguration were Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of the Sultanate of Oman HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, as well as other sheikhs, ministers, heads of diplomatic missions, senior officials, and guests of the exhibition.
During his visit, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs toured the exhibition pavilions and learned about the various Qatari, Arab, and foreign exhibitors. He also had the opportunity to explore the latest publications, books, and manuscripts from government agencies, Arab and international cultural institutions, and embassies accredited to the state, with a special focus on the Sultanate of Oman, the guest of honor for this edition. Oman’s pavilion showcased a diverse cultural program highlighting the country’s heritage, intellectual and literary production, and featured popular and artistic performances.
In addition to the traditional book fair offerings, the Doha Children section was a major highlight for visitors, covering an expansive 2,400 square meters. Here, children can participate in workshops, cultural and theatrical programs, and browse through booths featuring children’s book publishers. This section aims to provide a space for younger visitors to engage with literature and the arts in a fun and interactive manner.
The Doha International Book Fair serves as a platform for cultural exchange and collaboration between nations, with a focus on promoting knowledge and education. By bringing together exhibitors from different countries, the event allows visitors to explore a wide range of literary works from around the world and learn about various cultural traditions. The presence of high-profile guests and dignitaries adds to the prestige of the fair and highlights the importance of supporting the publishing industry and intellectual pursuits.
As the event continues until May 19, visitors can look forward to more activities, workshops, and discussions that celebrate the power of knowledge in shaping civilizations. Whether it’s exploring the latest literary offerings, attending cultural performances, or engaging in educational programs, the Doha International Book Fair offers something for everyone.
