The recent record rainfall in the UAE has left many residents grappling with transportation challenges, with their vehicles damaged and waiting for repairs. Abdul Basith, a marketing executive at a real estate firm, has already incurred expenses exceeding Dh4,500 since his car was damaged by the rain. He received an estimate exceeding Dh15,000 for the repairs but had to park his car elsewhere due to the surge in vehicles coming in for repairs. Many motorists are facing delays in insurance claim approvals, with repairs taking an additional one to two months to complete, leaving their damaged vehicles in garages.

In order to navigate through these challenges, many motorists have resorted to renting cars to meet their daily commuting needs, leading to additional expenditures. Basith had to spend Dh1,200 to tow his vehicle back and forth from the garage, and around Dh250 for parking. He decided to rent a car for a monthly expense of Dh2,400, as it was a more cost-effective solution compared to taking cabs or using public transportation. This situation has also been experienced by other residents like Patrick Fischer, a German expat, who had to abandon his car in the middle of the road due to engine failure and is currently renting a car costing him about Dh2,500 a month.

The surge in car rentals in the UAE post rainfall has been significant, with a reported 30 percent increase in demand. This increase can be attributed to the damage caused by the recent rain, leading residents to send their cars for repairs and wait for insurance claims to be approved. Rental car services like Royal Rent a Car and Selfdrive.ae have seen a spike in demand, as customers increasingly turn to rental vehicles as a reliable solution for post-damage control and worry-free driving experiences. Selfdrive.ae’s CEO, Soham Shah, emphasizes their commitment to hassle-free damage control and providing customers with a reliable solution for vehicle safety and maintenance during challenging weather conditions.

Overall, the recent rainfall in the UAE has highlighted the importance of reliable transportation solutions for residents facing vehicle damage and delays in repairs. The surge in car rentals post-rainfall reflects the need for alternative transportation options, as residents wait for insurance claims to be approved and repairs to be completed. Rental car services play a crucial role in providing customers with a cost-effective and hassle-free solution for navigating through transportation challenges caused by inclement weather conditions. As residents like Abdul Basith and Patrick Fischer continue to face difficulties with their damaged vehicles, renting cars has become a practical and convenient option for ensuring seamless daily commutes.
