Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League is a Huge Success – News

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) recently concluded the expanded 2024 season of the Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League with a finals event that featured NBA legends Julius Erving and Jason Williams. The league, which began in January, involved over 1,300 youngsters from schools across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain for the first time. Jason Williams expressed his excitement at witnessing the hard work of the kids culminate in an amazing finals event and mentioned how programs like these can inspire the next generation of basketball players.

Since 2022, Jr. NBA programming has impacted more than 11,000 youth in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The global youth basketball program for boys and girls focuses on teaching fundamental skills and core values of the game such as teamwork, respect, determination, and community at the grassroots level. The ultimate goal is to enhance the youth basketball experience for players, coaches, and parents. Throughout the 2022-23 season, the Jr. NBA reached a total of 50,000 youth in 28 countries across Europe and the Middle East, showcasing the program’s widespread impact.
