The Muscat Municipality is a Key Player in Environmental Protection and Sustainable Economy

Muscat Municipality recently participated in the Second Gulf Municipal Week held in Qatar, where experts and specialists in municipal affairs from Gulf Cooperation Council countries came together to exchange experiences and foster innovative solutions under the theme “A Common Vision for a Sustainable Future.” The event aimed to address common challenges facing the region, such as environmental protection, promoting a sustainable economy, and sustainable city planning.

The Sultanate’s delegation, led by the Ministry of Interior, presented four working papers on critical topics including food safety, sustainable city planning, waste management and conservation of energy, and building permit procedures. Dr Mohammed bin Said Al Balushi, Director of the Food and Laboratories Department at Muscat Municipality, highlighted the positive outcomes of the event and emphasized the importance of staying abreast of environmental risks to ensure food safety and public health within the community.

Muscat Municipality actively participates in local and regional events to enhance the quality of life and services for citizens, focusing on improving infrastructure, local services, and public health to achieve sustainable development goals. Efforts are concentrated on raising awareness and implementing international best practices in food safety and trade to ensure the highest safety standards for consumers.

The municipality’s commitment to leveraging modern technologies, enhancing laboratory facilities, and adhering to the highest health standards in food safety reflects its dedication to addressing challenges in this field. By participating in events like the Gulf Municipal Week, Muscat Municipality aims to enhance municipal work and improve practices in food safety, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
