The University of Nizwa (UoN) has partnered with GS Microelectronics, U.S. Inc. (GSME) to establish the “Nizwa Advanced Technology,” a Muscat-based company providing specialist semiconductor solutions and programs alongside an integrated training center. UoN owns 90% of the company, with GSME holding the remaining 10%. The collaboration aims to enhance Oman’s semiconductor business and training infrastructure, in line with the country’s digital strategy and Oman Vision 2040.

This groundbreaking project is set to benefit a wide range of stakeholders in Oman, including workers at national institutions, job seekers, international firms, and students. Dr. Walid Al-Rajhi, Dean of the Deanship of Planning and Quality Management at UoN, highlights the project’s significance in reducing reliance on foreign training programs and aligning with national interests. The partnership with GSME brings vital experience to Oman and has passed economic feasibility assessments, positioning it well to meet the demands of the local job market.

The establishment of the Nizwa Advanced Technology company will not only enhance Oman’s semiconductor education but also serve as a regional hub for training and development in the field. This strategic investment represents a significant step towards advancing Oman’s technological and human capital development, helping the country stay ahead in the rapidly evolving semiconductor industry. Further investment opportunities for local businesses and individuals are expected to be unveiled in the future, demonstrating the potential for continued growth and innovation in Oman’s tech sector.

By partnering with a reputable global firm like GSME, UoN has laid the foundation for a sustainable and impactful venture that promises to drive growth and innovation in Oman’s semiconductor industry. The Nizwa Advanced Technology company is poised to play a key role in shaping the future of Oman’s technological landscape, creating opportunities for skilled professionals, students, and businesses to thrive in a competitive global market. With a strong focus on training and development, this initiative is set to unlock the country’s full potential in the semiconductor sector and contribute towards building a knowledge-based economy for Oman’s future generations.
