The Ministry of Tourism in Bahrain, led by Her Excellency Fatima Al Sairafi, has unveiled a new strategy entitled “The Tourism Strategy for the Kingdom of Bahrain (2022-2026)” as part of the country’s economic recovery plan. This comprehensive strategy is designed to enhance Bahrain’s global tourism standing by showcasing its unique attractions, rich cultural heritage, and exceptional hospitality to attract discerning travelers from around the world. The goal is to increase the tourism sector’s contribution to Bahrain’s GDP by drawing in more tourists and offering them unforgettable experiences.
One of the key objectives of the tourism strategy is to diversify target markets by actively reaching out to emerging markets and promoting Bahrain’s unique offerings to attract a wider array of visitors from different countries. By expanding the tourism portfolio to include cultural, heritage, adventure, and coastal tourism offerings, Bahrain aims to cater to a diverse range of tourist interests and preferences. This includes partnering with relevant agencies, hospitality providers, tourism businesses, and Gulf Air to jointly promote events and festivals that enhance visitor engagement and create memorable experiences.
The Ministry of Tourism has also tailored packages to cater to family and cultural interests, with a focus on natural and environmental archaeological sites. Family-friendly festivals such as the Festival City and the Food Festival create a vibrant atmosphere, while celebrations for the New Year and dazzling fireworks displays make Bahrain a preferred choice for families seeking extraordinary experiences. Through continuous efforts to improve beach infrastructure and amenities, the ministry aims to attract beachgoers and provide a delightful seaside escape for visitors looking to relax and unwind by the coast.
Moreover, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) has introduced unified tourism packages for joint excursions with Saudi Arabia, with the aim of attracting a new wave of international visitors to the Arabian Gulf and positioning both nations as an attractive combined tourist destination. By working closely with various stakeholders and partners, the ministry is committed to achieving its strategic objectives and positioning Bahrain as a leading global tourism destination that offers unparalleled experiences to visitors from around the world.
