The State of Qatar recently took part in the 15th Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia. The country’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, represented Qatar at the conference. In his statement, H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi reiterated Qatar’s commitment to strengthening unity and solidarity among the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and their people. He highlighted the current challenges facing OIC member states, including ongoing armed conflicts, occupation, and hostility towards Islam and Muslims.

During his address, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs drew attention to the persistent challenges posed by Israel, particularly its refusal to comply with the International Court of Justice’s ruling to prevent genocide in the Gaza Strip. He called on the international community to take action to end the aggression and provocations carried out by the Israeli army against Palestinians, urging for compliance with international law and humanitarian standards. Qatar’s participation in the conference demonstrates its ongoing commitment to advocating for peace and justice in the Middle East and beyond.

As the conference took place amidst global uncertainties and challenges, the State of Qatar emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among OIC member states. H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi underscored the need for collective action to address the pressing issues facing the Muslim world, including conflicts and occupations that threaten the stability and security of the region. Qatar’s presence at the summit signals its dedication to advancing diplomatic efforts and promoting dialogue to resolve conflicts and promote peace.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs also highlighted the urgent need to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, where Palestinians continue to suffer from the consequences of the Israeli occupation. He emphasized the crucial role of the international community in addressing the root causes of the conflict, calling for concerted efforts to hold Israel accountable for its violations of international law and human rights. Qatar’s participation in the summit reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and advocating for a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In his statement at the conference, H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi expressed Qatar’s solidarity with the Palestinian people and reiterated the country’s unwavering support for their legitimate rights and aspirations. He called for an end to the violence and aggression committed by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinians and urged the international community to take immediate action to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Qatar’s active engagement in the summit reflects its strong commitment to promoting peace, justice, and stability in the region and beyond.

Overall, Qatar’s participation in the 15th Islamic Summit Conference underscores its continued efforts to strengthen cooperation and solidarity among OIC member states and advance the collective interests of the Muslim world. The country’s advocacy for peace, justice, and respect for international law reflects its commitment to promoting stability and security in the region.
