The Royal Opera House Muscat recently hosted the premiere of Cirkopolis by Cirque Éloize, a Montreal-based troupe known for their unique blend of circus arts, theatre, and dance. The show took place over three nights in early May and featured twelve acrobats and multi-disciplinary artists performing in a highly-stylised metropolis setting. Since its debut in 2012, Cirkopolis has received praise from audiences and critics alike, with publications like The New York Times calling it “the most beautiful show” and the New York Post raving about the troupe’s extraordinary talent.
As a world-class venue, the Royal Opera House Muscat has been hosting a diverse range of performances this season, with a focus on shows that appeal to young and family audiences. Cirkopolis was described by the show’s Artistic Director and Co-Director, Jeannot Painchaud, as a reflection of the crossroads between imagination and reality, individuality and community, and limits and possibilities. Painchaud expressed pride in presenting the show at the prestigious ROHM and emphasized the aim of providing the audience in Oman with a poetic and unforgettable experience.
