In the wake of the unprecedented rains and flooding in the UAE on April 16, several businesses and corporates have stepped up to help the country recover from the devastating losses. One such example is Al Asli Auto Maintenance, located in Ajman, which loaned its personal vehicle to an Indian expat, Rahul, whose wife was admitted to the hospital for delivery. The garage also towed over 20 cars for free and provided free services to those affected by the floods.
Al Marwan Machinery, a Sharjah-based company, mobilized its resources to clear the streets after the rains. They deployed over 40 large water tankers and trucks, along with additional support vehicles, to help move stranded vehicles, clear debris, and expedite the drying process. The company’s sister-concern, Al Marwan Construct, deployed dewatering pumps in impacted areas and rebuilt a 1km stretch of road within 24 hours.
In addition to these efforts, Petsville, a pet daycare and boarding provider, offered free boarding at its Dubai Investment Park branch to support pet owners whose homes were impacted by the floods. McDonald’s also contributed by providing 1,000 free meals to affected families and rescuers in collaboration with Sharjah Municipality. The fast-food company also coordinated with Dubai Municipality to assist in cleaning up roads and removing waste in the Al Quoz area.
The unity and support shown by these companies in times of challenge highlight the resilience and generosity of the UAE community. It is heartening to see businesses coming together to help those in need during a crisis. The selfless acts of kindness and support from these companies have made a significant impact on the lives of those affected by the floods, showing that solidarity and compassion are key values in times of hardship.
