Muscat International Airport in Oman is no exception, with a significant increase in the number of travelers passing through its gates during the month of March. Indian nationals led the pack, with 79,810 arrivals and 77,646 departures, followed by Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals.
According to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of passengers traveling through Oman airports saw a 16.8 percent increase by the end of March 2024, totaling 3,840,354 passengers compared to 3,287,015 passengers in March 2023. Muscat International Airport alone saw a 17.7 percent rise in passenger numbers, with 3,482,325 travelers passing through on 25,204 flights. The airport saw an increase in both international and domestic flights, with 23,237 international flights and 1,967 domestic flights.
Salalah Airport also experienced a boost in passenger traffic during the same period, with 325,035 passengers traveling on 2,288 flights, an increase of 6.7 percent. Of these flights, 1,218 were international flights carrying 162,651 passengers, while 1,070 were domestic flights carrying 162,384 passengers. Sohar Airport and Duqm Airport also saw an increase in passenger numbers, with 17,462 passengers on 154 flights and 15,532 passengers on 156 flights, respectively.
As the world slowly returns to normalcy, the travel industry is seeing a resurgence, with more travelers taking to the skies once again.
