The UAE women’s cricket team secured a comfortable 70-run victory over Vanuatu in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier. The 17-year-old pace bowler Samaira Dharnidharka played a crucial role in the victory with a four for 12 spell, proving herself as the fastest bowler in the UAE team. Vanuatu, after inviting UAE to bat first, could only manage 63 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their quota of 20 overs.

Dharnidharka’s exceptional performance earned her the Player of the Match award as she claimed the scalps of four of the top six Vanuatu batters. The only resistance came from Gillian Chilia, who scored an unbeaten 21 runs. Earlier in the match, Theertha Satish and skipper Esha Oza put on a strong opening partnership of 44 runs. Vanuatu’s Nasimana Navaika was the most successful bowler for the visitors with figures of 3-21.

In the Group B match held at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, UAE posted a total of 133/7 in 20 overs. Vanuatu, on the other hand, could only manage 63/8 in their allotted 20 overs. The victory strengthened UAE’s chances of securing a semifinal slot in the tournament. This win came after Vanuatu stunned the cricket world with a win over 12th ranked Zimbabwe earlier in the tournament.

The match saw a total team effort from the UAE players with contributions from both the batters and bowlers. Players like Oza, Satish, and Dharnidharka showcased their skills on the field, ultimately leading their team to victory. The win not only boosts UAE’s position in the qualifier but also reflects the growing talent and potential in women’s cricket in the region.

With this victory, UAE continues to impress in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier, showcasing their potential to compete at the highest level in women’s cricket. The team’s performance in this match highlights the depth of talent and determination within the squad. As they aim for a semifinal slot, UAE’s players are focused and motivated to make their mark on the international stage. With young talents like Dharnidharka shining on the field, the future looks bright for UAE women’s cricket.
