Julius Baer, a Swiss wealth management firm, recently unveiled a unique artwork created by Qatari artist Aisha Al Abdulla in its Doha office. The artwork, titled ‘Yesterday’s Tomorrow’, combines elements of Qatar’s rich heritage with a glimpse into its ambitious future. The event was attended by top officials from Julius Baer, including CEO Slim Bouker, and representatives from Qatar Foundation. This collaboration between the bank and the artist highlights Julius Baer’s support for arts and culture initiatives in Qatar.

During a press conference, Slim Bouker emphasized the importance of empowering youth in the country and supporting local artists. He praised Aisha for her creativity and unique perspective in creating the artwork that bridges the gap between heritage, present, and future. Bouker mentioned that Julius Baer has a long history of supporting arts and culture, which is evident through their art collection spanning four decades. The bank is committed to working with the local community to showcase emerging talent like Aisha.

Aisha Al Abdulla expressed her gratitude for being the first Qatari artist commissioned by Julius Baer. She explained that the artwork was inspired by her belief in preserving historical and cultural elements in Qatar to build the country’s legacy. Collaborating with Julius Baer and Qatar Foundation to create ‘Yesterday’s Tomorrow’ was a meaningful experience for the artist. The Executive Director of Partnerships at Qatar Foundation, Alexandra S Chalat, also acknowledged the support of Julius Baer in working with local artists and aligning with Qatar Foundation’s objectives of social progress and progressive education.

The partnership between Julius Baer and Qatar Foundation signifies a commitment to using arts as a tool for education and social progress in Qatar. By showcasing local talent like Aisha Al Abdulla, both organizations aim to create a lasting legacy that promotes culture and creativity in the country. The artwork unveiled at the Doha office reflects a fusion of tradition and modernity, encapsulating the essence of Qatar’s heritage and vision for the future.
