MSM index ends lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,760.67 points, up by 1 percent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.07 percent at 447.34 points.

Raysut Cement, up 9.60 percent, was the top gainer while, Taageer Finance, down 3.77 percent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 1,526 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR4.09 million, with more than 30.66 million shares changing hands. Out of 60 traded securities, 37 advanced, 8 declined, and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR148,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR125,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR23,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,698.64 points, up 1.38 percent. Prices of Oman & Emirates Investment, Global Financial Investments, Al Madina Investments, Al Anwar Investment, Muscat Insurance were up by 4.71 percent, 4.29 percent, 3.64 percent, 3.49 percent, 2.94 percent respectively. Prices of Taageer Finance, Bank Muscat were down by 3.77 percent, 0.38 percent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,879.71 points, up 1.71 percent. Prices of Raysut Cement, National Mineral Water, Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Flour Mills, A’Saffa Foods were up by 9.60 percent, 9.52 percent, 6.94 percent, 5.33 percent, 2.16 percent respectively. Prices of Al Maha Ceramics were down by 1.25 percent respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.18 percent before closing at 1,851.13 points. Prices of Sharqiyah Desalination, Al Suwadi Power, National Gas, Al Maha Markting, Phoenix Power were up by 6.92 percent, 2.53 percent, 2.41 percent, 2 percent, 1.67 percent respectively. Prices of Sembcorp Salalah, Barka Water & Power Company, Al Jazeera Services, Renaissance Services, OQ Gas Networks were down by 2.73 percent, 2.42 percent, 1.94 percent, 1.03 percent, 0.69 percent respectively.
