At just eight years old, Dahveed Sibi Kurisinkal is already making a name for himself in the world of competitive chess. Despite his young age, Dahveed has achieved impressive success in the sport, winning titles and earning recognition in the competitive school chess circuit. His passion for the game was ignited just two years ago, and since then, he has dedicated himself to honing his skills and strategy.

Dahveed’s talent was first noticed by his physical education teacher at the Indian School Al Maabela (ISAM) at the age of six. Since then, he has received individual training from various coaches through online sessions, allowing him to refine his strategies and deepen his understanding of the game. Balancing his studies with his passion for chess, Dahveed demonstrates a level of maturity and commitment rare for someone his age.

One of the highlights of Dahveed’s chess journey was his participation in the CBSE Nationals Chess Championship in Jalandhar, India, where he finished as individual runner-up in the Under-11 mixed category. Despite his disappointment over a loss, Dahveed remains determined to practice even harder and continue working towards his ultimate goal of becoming a Grandmaster. His idol, Arjun Erigaisi, influences his playing style, as Dahveed favors both Rapid and Classical styles in matches.

Supported by his family, including his brother and sister who are also involved in chess, Dahveed’s passion for the game and his family’s encouragement have set him on a course for success. With upcoming tournaments on the horizon, including the Under-9 National Championship in Pune, India, Dahveed is poised for yet another opportunity to test his skills against top players and move closer to his dream of competing at international and world championships.

Despite his young age, Dahveed is focused and determined to reach the pinnacle of success in the world of chess. His hard work, dedication, and love for the game have propelled him to carve out a name for himself in the competitive chess world, with his eyes set on achieving the prestigious title of Grandmaster. As he continues on his journey, supported by his family and coaches, Dahveed’s big dreams and strategic manoeuvres set him apart as a rising star in the world of competitive chess.
