The Oman Football Academy League (OFAL) is set to make sports history in the Sultanate of Oman with the launch of the most extensive football academy competition ever held in the country. Organized by Muscat Media Group (MMG) in partnership with the Oman Football Association (OFA), this groundbreaking tournament will bring together 74 academies and 190 teams from all corners of Oman, competing for the top honours. The tournament aims to set a new standard for youth football, nurturing young talent and providing a platform for their development on regional and global stages.

The tournament will feature teams in age categories under-16, under-14, under-12, and under-10, showcasing the best young football talent from Oman’s diverse governorates. Initial qualifiers will be held in the various governorates, leading up to the final stage in Muscat in April 2025. Alongside team awards, players will have the opportunity to compete for individual honours such as best player, best goalkeeper, and top scorer. Winners of the tournament will also secure opportunities to compete in regional and international championships, providing them with valuable exposure and experience.

Fadi Kattar, Chairman of the OFAL Organising Committee, emphasized that the tournament goes beyond just being a sports competition. It is part of a strategic vision to develop football in Oman by providing young players with exposure to high-level play and a supportive environment that nurtures their skills. The aim is to create a professional platform that not only strengthens young players’ technical abilities but also instills a passion for the game, preparing them for future competitions and enhancing the quality of Omani football.

Chuck Martini, former English Premier League player and Head of Muscat Football Academy, expressed excitement about the opportunities that OFAL will provide for young players. He highlighted the unique learning experience that the tournament offers, emphasizing that it is not just about competition but about developing each player’s potential. By participating in the league, players will gain valuable experience that will serve them well on both national and international stages, contributing to the overall growth of football in Oman.

The tournament will be held at Cheltenham School’s state-of-the-art stadium, promising a full experience for spectators with children’s sports competitions and entertainment enhancing the event. This landmark tournament underscores Oman’s commitment to nurturing young sports talent and supporting their development on a national and global scale. With MMG as a partner, OFAL will benefit from extensive coverage across TV, print, and digital platforms, ensuring broad engagement and visibility for young football talents across the Sultanate.

In conclusion, the Oman Football Academy League (OFAL) is set to revolutionize youth football in Oman, providing young players with a platform to showcase their talents and develop their skills in a competitive and supportive environment. With a focus on fostering a passion for the game and preparing players for future competitions, OFAL aims to raise the standard of football in the Sultanate and provide valuable opportunities for young talent to shine on regional and international stages. The tournament, organized by Muscat Media Group and the Oman Football Association, promises to be a milestone event in Oman’s sports history, highlighting the country’s dedication to nurturing and supporting its young sports talents.
