The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in collaboration with the Doha International Family Institute of Qatar Foundation, recently held the first meeting of the “Tansheeh” programme for the 2024-25 academic year in Doha, Qatar. Over 300 participants, including school principals, social and psychological specialists, and partners, gathered to introduce the programme aimed at supporting adolescent well-being by implementing intervention programs that enhance protective factors and combat risk factors affecting students’ behavior, habits, and intellectual orientations.

The “Tansheeh” programme will kick off with a pre-survey at the beginning of the academic year, followed by the implementation of preventive and developmental programs throughout the year. At the end of the academic year, a post-survey will be conducted to gauge the effectiveness of the intervention programs on students. The meeting was inaugurated by Assistant Director of the Department of Schools and Students Affairs, Fatima Youssef Al Obaidli, who emphasized the importance of advancing the implementation of the program as part of the national framework for promoting good ethical values.

Dr. Sharifa Noman Al-Emadi, Executive Director of the Doha International Family Institute, presented an overview of the “Tansheeh” programme and its objectives during the meeting. She highlighted the family’s constructive role in education by developing communication skills and promoting positive role models. Additionally, Dr. Khalid Jamal Al Na’ama, Director of the Family Research and Policy Department, stressed the essential role of the family as the primary nucleus in shaping children’s personalities and their intellectual and behavioral orientations.

Ms. Ibtisam Ayoub, Family Research and Policy Officer at the Doha International Family Institute, presented the implementation plan for the “Tansheeh” programme for the 2024-2025 academic year. The plan includes organizing an introductory workshop for social and psychological specialists in public schools to raise awareness among students’ parents about the program. Furthermore, a post-survey will be conducted at the end of the academic year to assess the effectiveness of the intervention program on students in schools.

Overall, the “Tansheeh” programme aims to prevent behavioral deviations in middle and high school students by enhancing their integrated social development during crucial developmental stages. It is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Education and the Doha International Family Institute to promote good ethical values and support adolescent well-being. By focusing on intervention programs that enhance protective factors and combat risk factors, the program strives to create a positive and supportive environment for students to thrive academically and emotionally.
