Juventus’ Turkish forward Kenan Yildiz made headlines as he scored the first goal of the revamped Champions League on September 17, 2024. At just 19 years old, Yildiz dribbled into the left side of the box and curled in a long shot into the top corner of the goal frame to become Juventus’ youngest scorer in his first match in Europe’s top club competition. Breaking a club record previously held by Alessandro Del Piero, Yildiz’s goal was a stunning display of skill and talent.

Alessandro Del Piero had set the record when he scored at 20 years and 308 days against Borussia Dortmund in September 1995. With Yildiz breaking this record at 19 years and 136 days, it was a momentous occasion for the young Turkish winger. Wearing the iconic No. 10 jersey previously worn by Del Piero himself, Yildiz’s goal not only showcased his talent but also drew comparisons to the legend he was following in the footsteps of.

Yildiz’s goal came 21 minutes into Juve’s game against PSV Eindhoven, setting the stage for an exciting match for fans. While Juventus took on PSV Eindhoven, Aston Villa was facing Young Boys in the other early match of the new league phase. This new format features all 36 teams ranked from top to bottom in a single standings that will conclude in January, providing an interesting twist to the competition.

As Yildiz celebrated his historic goal, fans and critics alike were quick to praise the young forward’s performance and skill. With a bright future ahead of him, Yildiz’s goal marked the beginning of what could be a promising career in Europe’s top club competition. The Turkish winger’s goal not only secured a crucial lead for Juventus but also showcased his ability to perform under pressure and deliver when it matters most.

The revamped Champions League has brought about a new level of excitement and competition, with young talents like Yildiz shining on the big stage. With the league phase set to unfold over the coming months, fans can expect more thrilling moments and standout performances from the next generation of football stars. Yildiz’s goal was just the beginning of what promises to be an unforgettable season filled with excitement, drama, and moments of brilliance on the pitch.
