In a significant development, Hungary and Bahrain have signed an agreement to enhance cooperation in the education sector, allowing 10 Bahraini students to study in Hungary under new scholarship programs starting next academic year. This announcement was made during the official visit of Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjarto, to Bahrain. The details of the agreement were revealed during a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was attended by His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister. The agreement also included an official investment protection agreement between the two countries, highlighting the growing economic ties between Hungary and Bahrain.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister emphasized the significance of the agreement, pointing towards new investment opportunities on the horizon. One particular opportunity involves a technology company investing in cashless payment solutions with a focus on mega events in Bahrain. This initiative, supported by Hungary’s Investment Company, aims to establish digital payment solutions in the kingdom, with testing currently in its final stages. Minister Szijjarto also praised Bahrain’s efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially highlighting Bahrain’s role in providing vaccines to Hungary, which he stated helped save many lives in his country.

Minister Szijjarto also reiterated Hungary’s commitment to peace, expressing strong support for the Abraham Accords and condemning terrorism. He emphasized the importance of every human’s right to live peacefully and spoke out against terrorism, underscoring the need for global peace and unity in combating such threats. Additionally, he commended Bahrain’s Olympic successes and mentioned discussions with the Minister of Youth Affairs about potential areas of collaboration between the two nations. This highlights the shared values and goals that Bahrain and Hungary are working towards in their bilateral relations.

Dr. Al Zayani, the Bahraini Minister, also praised the ongoing cooperation between Bahrain and Hungary, highlighting the significant economic developments that have resulted from this partnership. He noted the importance of past high-level visits between the two countries, including the visit by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Hungary in 2019 and the anticipated visit by the Hungarian President to Bahrain in 2023. These visits have played a crucial role in enhancing bilateral ties and fostering a strong relationship between the two nations, paving the way for more collaborations and partnerships in various sectors.

Overall, the agreement between Hungary and Bahrain to enhance cooperation in education and investment reflects the growing relationship between the two countries. The opportunity for Bahraini students to study in Hungary under new scholarship programs will not only benefit the individuals directly but also contribute to knowledge exchange and cultural understanding between the two nations. The focus on investment in cashless payment solutions also highlights the potential for economic growth and innovation through collaborations between Hungary and Bahrain, further strengthening their partnership. With a shared commitment to peace and prosperity, both countries are poised to continue working together towards a brighter future for their people.
